Saving is fun, especially when you are travelling. This post will show you how to save some money buying bus/train tickets when travel in Kyoto.
These are called “Kinken Shop”. There are some different brands of kinken shops, but in Kansai area, most popular one is Konan Tickets. You can buy all kind of tickets there, with a discount price. You can even buy dollar/yen/euro, exchange currency…
This is the picture of the one-time bus ticket.
While the non-discount bus ticket (which you pay to the driver) is 230/one way, you only have to pay 198 yen or 165 yen for these discount tickets. In the pictures you can see 2 different types of discount tickets. The blue one on the left cost 198 yen, can be used at all time of day. The white one on the right can be used only from 10am to 4pm on normal days. To use the tickets, just throw them into the ticket checking machine when you get down the bus, just like throwing coins.
The one-day bus ticket normally would cost 600 yen but cost only 590 yen in these Kinken Shops.
